Jackie Dockter
Memorial Tennis Tournament
Welcome to this website, which is dedicated to Jackie Dockter. Jackie was born February 21, 1982, in Bismarck to Celia (Cec) and Jerry Dockter. She attended Northridge Elementary, Cathedral, and St Mary’s Central High School. Jackie was known for her accomplishments both on and off the tennis court. She was the West Region Girls’ Singles Champion in 1999 and placed third in the North Dakota State Girls’ Tennis Tournament. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was a cheerleader for the boys’ basketball team and captain of the football cheerleading squad. In her senior year she was elected St. Mary’s Homecoming Queen. Her love for children was apparent when she taught summer lessons for the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District. Jackie died November 3, 1999, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, six weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Jackie was most known for how she made people feel. She had a special gift of making people laugh with her quick wit. Her enthusiasm for life crossed school boundaries. She made friends with a variety of people, not only in the Bismarck/Mandan area, but also across the entire state. This continued, distinct tribute to Jackie is sponsored by the Dockter Family, Dakota Serenity Nutrition/Dakota Pharmacy, Tom and Marilyn Christianson, Railway Credit Union, and Tom and Sherri Dickson in cooperation with the Bismarck Parks and Recreation Department.
The mission of the tournaments is to celebrate the life of Jackie by playing with your family and friends--old and new--the game that Jackie loved. The concept is to play with a spirit of joy, laughter, and fellowship.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used to promote junior tennis in the Bismarck/Mandan communities and to maintain the memorial to Jackie.

Tournament Cancelled
It is with much sadness that we have to tell you that we are canceling the 2020 Jackie Dockter Memorial Tennis Tournament. We have taken many things into consideration and we do not think that we should go forward. Since it would have the 20th anniversary commemoration, we were hoping to make this year's event special. However, we believe that everyone's physical and psychological well-being is more important. This is the second time that we have cancelled the tournament, but, just as with the cancellation in 2011 because of the flood, we will survive this ordeal.
Our thoughts are with all of you. Thank you for your past participation as players, sponsors, and volunteers.
Update
Once we cancelled the tournament we wanted to have an activity to replace the tournament so that you could have something to keep you connected to the Jackie Dockter family and to other players. We prematurely announced that we would have a trivia tournament, but have since decided not to do so. We apologize for raising the hopes of those of you who may have gotten excited about the idea.
Unless we decide on some other activity, our next event regarding the Jackie Dockter Tournament will be the winter doubles tournament for juniors.

During the tournament if there is important information, such as rain delays and rescheduling, we will attempt to notify you through email and/or text messages. Therefore, when registering for the tournament, please check the option to receive the messages. If you have chosen not to receive messages from the tournament, you will not automatically receive them. If that is the case, refer to this page for information about the tournament.
